Firstly, we really miss seeing all of you. Over Spring break, the Library Learning Commons got a fresh coat of paint and some new colours. We are excited to see the renovations continue when it's safe. As we all adjust to learning at home and teachers are preparing for continuity of learning, we will update this site regularly with fun links and resources. Mostly, we just want to help you keep loving literacy, even if we can't physically check out books at this time.
If you're a Harry Potter lover, be sure to visit www.wizardingworld.com/collections/harry-potter-at-home This is an awesome site with lots of fun activities, like word searches, learning to draw and much more. There is also some information to access Harry Potter books online through the Libby app. The Libby app is available to those with public library cards and has a large selection of books and audiobooks to borrow. If you don't have a public library card, you should be able to get one online very soon at the Fraser Valley Public Library. We will keep you posted.
Another fun opportunity is on Kelly Yang's Instagram page. You may remember, Kelly Yang is the author of Front Desk, one of the LBOY nominees this year! She has been offering a variety of Writer's Workshops via Instagram (@kellyyanghk). Sometimes, she has special guests like Stacy McAnulty, author of LBOY nominee The Miscalculations of Lightening Girl. Keep an eye on her Instagram to learn the tricks of the trade and get inspired!
Lastly, for today- Calling all Dav Pilkey fans! kids/scholastic.com/kids/books/dav-pilkey-at-home/ The author and illustrator of Dog Man and Captain Underpants is uploading videos and even gives a little tutorial on how to draw Little Petey. Check it out!
We hope everyone is doing well. Keep checking in for more fun. We miss you all!
